5 miles outside with Tammy, T-dawg, Tammalamma ding dong, what ever you want to call her.
So here's a story of a lovely lady. (me). I am doing a vibram study w/ BYU and I got a free pair of 5 fingers yesterday :) yahoo. MRI on Saturday and then I find out if I am in the control group or the vibram group. all of the sudden I feel like a rat in an experiment.
I had a 2 hour test (which turned into almost 3 hours) at BYU today. I thought more running would be involved so I skipped my morning run. Oh well.
I had an ultrasound done on my feet, then I was covered in little sticky dots, did some strides in my regular shoes, vibrams then barefoot. Then I did a little VO2 testing. It all was interesting. I'm excited to see the results in 10 weeks after I've used the vibrams more often.
2.75 miles in my vibrams & 1 hour cardio kick. the vibrams get a lot of attention. maybe it's b/c they are bright pink. they make me feel like perry the platypus...hey where's merri?
10 miles today. so lucky to have come in when Julie did so I could follow her and run on a tm next to her. :) hopefully I didn't bug her too much. total time 76:30. Only a few more weeks until my hubs is done with school so I can start doing my long runs on Saturday instead of on Friday.
2.5 to the gym in what I'd call an eerily perfect morning run...I should have known that it was only time before disaster struck. :) Tammy & I ran to the gym to go to Jana's kickboxing class. Once we arrived we were told it was cancelled b/c Jana was sick. So we lifted for 30 minutes then went to run home only to see it was a DOWNPOUR of rain. But since we're tough we ran home and I'm still alive to tell the tale.
Ran 2.5 miles in my vibrams to the gym with Tammy. SOOO glad to see Julie there. I had run with my 2nd pair of shoes in a backpack. She was kind enough to drive my shoes home so I wouldn't have to carry them on my run back. 1 hour cardio kick. and 2.5 home in my regular shoes.
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life. Er I mean tomorrow will be the first race I have run since Speedy Spaniard 6 weeks after having my babes. Nervous. Plus had a dream last night that I went to the race and Allie was mean to me and acted like she didn't know me. And I got lost on the course and couldn't find the finish.
Woke up to rain and lots of it. I was very hesitant about going and finally right at 7 decided to go. I knew my little sister would be there, plus some neighbors and of course Allie McBeal. We both decided to wear our spurs jerseys and hold a single red rose so we could spot each other. Anyhows I was cold so I was covered from head to toe, even my face so of course Allie didn't recognize me. She thought I was her lunatic stalker (cough burt). Luckily once I removed my hat, ear muffs, turtle neck, scarf & face mask she recognized me. So the race started a little late, which actually worked out well because the rain stopped during the race.
I would consider this a hard course. Lots of hills. But I got to meet JulieC along the way. She just passed me a couple times, no biggie. Super nice though so I'll forgive her.
I felt the finish line was a little hidden and I was a bit disappointed in my time. I felt like I could have gone faster, but I also really feel like this was a great 2011 race debut for me. I'm excited for the summer of races!
After the race I talked to all of my new friends and I carried a cold, shivering, blue, limping Allie to my car and wrapped her in warm blankets. jk but I would have. She did awesome today, 1st place of course! Super nice gal! So glad I could chat with her for a bit. I asked her to sign the 8x10 picture I brought of her, but she declined.
Hard course, but it was fun to run a race w/ lots of people I knew. Especially ones from our hood. splits later.
